The Maine Community Foundation seeks grant proposals to its Belvedere Historic Preservation and Energy Efficiency Grant Program. The program invests in the preservation, restoration, and retrofitting of historic buildings in Maine.
Grant awards of up to $20,000 are available for the preservation and reuse of historic buildings that serve as civic, cultural, or economic hubs for Maine communities. All proposed projects must be for historic buildings listed or declared eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or contributing buildings within a federally designated historic district. The building must be owned by an eligible nonprofit. ....

BIDDEFORD The City of Biddeford wants to craft a plan to guide cultural development over the next five years.
City officials are seeking input and engagement from the community from businesses, nonprofits, individuals and local government.
The public is invited to share their perspectives on arts and culture in Biddeford at three public meetings, which will be held online, via Zoom. The first, set for Monday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon, is intended for business leaders, while the second meeting on Thursday, Feb. 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. is intended for artists and makers. Saturday, Dec. 19, was a very special day in Biddeford. Over 3,000 wreaths were placed on grave sites all over the city by volunteers who paid their respects to the veterans buried there. The snow came just days before the event, but that didn’t prevent the many volunteers from acknowledging the service that local veterans gave for their country. The outpouring of volunteers who trudged through the deep snow to place the wreaths was awesome!
I had the honor of getting involved with this event when local trucking company owner Graig Morin decided that he would piggyback onto the Wreaths Across America program that oversees the distribution of Christmas wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery and over 2,500 other locations. The support of the community in general made for a “feel good” day to wrap up a year that was anything but. ....
