On the night before Valentine’s Day, 1981, young parents Maureen and Francis Lawlor, aged 23 and 25, decided to take a rare night off from looking after their baby daughter, Lisa, and headed to a trendy nightclub, Stardust, in north Dublin.
They didn’t intend to stay for long, as Maureen was anxious about leaving Lisa with a babysitter, but they soon got swept up in a disco dancing competition and stayed until the early hours. Then, a fire broke out in the venue. ....

When she was 17-months-old, Lisa Lawlorâs parents Maureen and Francis left her at home in Finglas with a babysitter, so they could have a rare night out. The date was February 13th, 1981, the night before Valentineâs Day. Lisa was recovering from a slight cough, and her mother was worried about leaving her, but Francis was persuasive. He had got tickets from a friend to a disco in Artane.
The disco was at the Stardust. Lisaâs parents â like 46 other young people who went out that night â never came home. ....

She was just an infant when her parents went to the Stardust. Maureen and Francis Lawlor were among the 48 people who lost their lives. Lisa’s novel,
Stardust Baby, was released this week. The first hearings of the fresh inquest into the tragedy are expected to get under way in the coming months.
