Two military families sue over mold in base housing at Naval Postgraduate School

AUSTIN, Texas Two military families are suing several private housing companies because the homes that they rented at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., contained mold that sickened their children and ruined their personal belongings.
Navy Cmdr. Louis D Antonio and his wife Amber Holland-D Antonio and Marine Corps Maj. Ryan Keller and his wife Samantha Keller moved into homes in the Parks at Monterey Bay about one year apart. Both families discovered their houses contained mold and believe the private companies that manage the base housing did not follow proper safety precautions while remediating the homes, which exacerbated the conditions, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the Superior Court of California. ....

Ft. Hunter Liggett colonel talks on sustaining community relations in COVID-19 pandemic

Sustaining strong bonds between military and civilian leaders is very important to Col. Charles Bell, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett/Parks Reserve Forces Training Area Commander. Bell hosts quarterly Community Relations Working Group meetings with leaders from state to city level, FHL, Camp Roberts and Presidio of Monterey.
During the December 10, 2020, meeting, military leaders briefed King City Mayor Mike LeBarre, San Miguel General Manager Rob Roberson and Paso Robles Community Development Director Warren Frace on their COVID-19 posture and protocols. They also discussed issues such as coordination with local airports to support potential mass civil support operations, the transportation of training units from airports to installations, and affordable housing. More than a dozen leaders participated and the robust conversations generated interest in continuing the dialogue for potential Intergovernment ....
