Over 2,000 soldiers vaccinated with China's Sinovac so far

A total of 2,290 military healthcare workers have already been inoculated with CoronaVac vaccine from China’s Sinovac Biotech Ltd. since the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) began administering jabs against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the military has announced.

Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, AFP Chief of Staff, said 598 military personnel have been vaccinated at the V. Luna Medical Center (VLMC), 583 at Camp General Emilion Aguinaldo Station Hospital (CGEASH), 349 at the Philippine Navy’s Manila Naval Hospital (PNMNH), 566 at the Philippine Army General Hospital (PAGH), and 194 at the Philippine Air Force General Hospital (PAFGH) as of Thursday, March 4. ....

2,290 military medical personnel gets Sinovac

More than 2,000 military medical frontllners have been vaccinated by the Chinese-made Sinovac since the national government started its roll-out of vaccine for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday.
Navy Capt. Jonathan Zata, chief military information officer, said a total of 598 personnel of the V. Luna Medical Center were inoculated, 583 at the Camp Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital, 349 at the Philippine Navy Manila Naval Hospital, 566 at the Philippine Army General Hospital and 194 at the Philippine Air Force General Hospital, for a total of 2,290 military medical frontliners.
Lt Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), said more than 3,000 vaccines are still available and set to be vaccinated for the personnel of the five military hospitals. ....

Secretary Galvez: Gov't can open up economy once there's stable COVID-19 vaccine stockpile


MANILA, March 2   Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said they would recommend to President Rodrigo Duterte the opening up of the economy once the government secures a standby reserve of two to five million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
“Gagawin po namin, Mr. President, iyong inyong ano inyong utos na magkaroon po tayo ng at least mayroon tayong naka-standby na reserve or stockpile na 2 million to 5 million para at least makapag-open up na po tayo ng ano ng ating economy,” Galvez told President Duterte during a meeting on government intervention on COVID-19.
“Pagka po nagawa po namin na ‘yong aming ano stable na po ‘yong aming supply, we will inform you, sir, we will recommend na puwede na tayong mag-open just in case na nakuha na po natin more or less iyong talagang mga vulnerable people.” ....

Covid-19 vaccination begins

LESS than 24 hours after the arrival of the first batch of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the Philippines, some government officials and medical frontliners had themselves inoculated Monday, March 1, 2021, to kick off the vaccination program and raise confidence in the vaccine.
Health workers at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City will be the first to get vaccine jabs in Central Visayas on Thursday, March 4, Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Assistant Secretary Anthony Gerard “Jonji” Gonzalez said in an online press conference Monday.
More than 50 percent of the VSMMC workers agreed to have themselves inoculated, said Dr. Junjie Zuasola of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health (DOH) 7. ....
