TOP diplomats abroad are pushing for the role of Clark Freeport, a former US military airbase, as an investment and economic center for businessmen in northeastern America and other US states.
New York Consul General Elmer Cato said the Freeport is being promoted under the economic diplomacy program of the government.
Cato made the remarks in Balitaan, a virtual kapihan of Capampangan in Media Inc. (CAMI) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC).
In the video conference, Cato said the Philippine Center in New York, together with American Chamber of Commerce, recently held a webinar that pushes for freeports in Clark, Subic and Bataan as investment centers. ....

MANILA – The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the petitions questioning the Philippine government’s withdrawal from the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The decision by Associate Justice Marvic Leonen turned down the suit for being moot and academic, an SC statement read.
“The decision acknowledged that the President, as the primary architect of foreign policy, is subject to the Constitution and existing statute. Therefore, the power of the President to withdraw unilaterally can be limited by the conditions for concurrence by the Senate or when there is an existing law that authorizes the negotiation of a treaty or international agreement or when there is a statute that implements an existing treaty,” ....
