Britain’s cautious attempts to open up the live music industry are about to be shown up by our cousins across the Atlantic.
New York mayor Bill de Blasio is planning a vast 60,000-capacity open air concert on Central Park’s Great Lawn, with a tentative date of Saturday August 21. It will, according to The New York Times, be a “grand symbol of New York’s revitalisation after a brutal pandemic year”. De Blasio has asked Clive Davis, the legendary 89 year-old producer who signed Bruce Springsteen and Whitney Houston, to pull together a line-up. ....
