Both “interesting and sophisticated” (from “So Hard Done By” by The Tragically Hip), the Proposed Amendments are intended to reduce regulatory burden by fostering streamlined reporting and increasing reporting efficiency for reporting issuers (other than investment funds), while increasing the quality and usability of the disclosure provided to investors without compromising investor protection or the efficiency of the capital markets. In particular, the Proposed Amendments would streamline management s discussion and analysis (MD&A) and annual information form (AIF) requirements by combining them into one reporting document, together with an issuer’s financial statements.

Creditors Arrangement Act
(Canada) (CCAA). At the time of the CCAA filing, Bellatrix was
party to certain contracts with an energy producer (EP) for the
purchase and sale of natural gas (Contract). Bellatrix sought to
disclaim the Contract and cease delivery of natural gas to the
EP.
The EP argued that the disclaimer notice provided by Bellatrix was
invalid because the Contract constituted an eligible financial
contract (EFC) for the purposes of the CCAA. Under section 32(9) of

An Act mainly to improve the transparency of enterprises (Bill or Bill 78), before the Quebec National Assembly.
The Bill seeks to amend the
Act respecting the legal publicity of enterprises (ALPE) and improve corporate transparency. These proposed changes follow the recommendations made by Quebec’s Minister of Finance in pages B.31 and following of the 2020–2021 Budget (Budget).
The Bill will require that corporations disclose information on “ultimate beneficiaries” to the Quebec enterprise registrar, for entry in Quebec’s enterprise register (register), while allowing the information to be searched by the name of a natural person and ensuring adequate protection of personal information. ....
