Save the Poudre, No Pipe Dream sue over Fort Collins review of NISP
Citizen groups Save the Poudre and No Pipe Dream are suing to stop the city of Fort Collins from processing an application for Northern Integrated Supply Project infrastructure in city limits.
The two groups filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the city and the Northern Integrated Supply Project Water Activity Enterprise over Northern Water’s SPAR (site plan advisory review) application for the controversial Poudre River reservoir project. The complaint argues that SPAR is the wrong way for the city to review NISP infrastructure and seeks to terminate the SPAR application. It also seeks to cancel the Fort Collins Planning and Zoning Board review of the application set for June 30. ....

Move over, Horsetooth  there s a new reservoir coming to town.
Northern Water, a governmental entity that provides water to 33 towns and cities in Northern Colorado, is preparing to begin construction on the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project this summer.
Larimer County will manage the wakeless reservoir, which is a collaboration between 12 water providers across Northeastern Colorado. Upon its completion later this decade, it s expected to supply 30,000-acre feet of water per year  and new recreational opportunities for residents.

BOULDER COUNTY A coalition of environmental defense groups are appealing a decision by federal agencies allowing Denver Water to expand Gross Dam to more than triple its current capacity.
The coalition includes Save The Colorado, The Environmental Group, WildEarth Guardians, Living Rivers, Waterkeeper Alliance Inc., and the Sierra Club; it filed a notice of appeal in federal court Monday morning, asking the U.S. 10th Court of Appeals in Denver to review a district court judge’s dismissal of the original complaint.
Gross Reservoir is a 440-acre reservoir just west of Eldorado Canyon State Park at the southern end of Boulder County. Denver Water received final approval last year to raise the existing dam from 340 feet to 465 feet and more than triple the reservoir’s capacity from 41,811 acre-feet to 114,000. ....

Northern Water, environmental groups settle legal battle over Chimney Hollow Reservoir – BizWest


DENVER The Northern Water Municipal Subdistrict has reached an agreement with a cadre of environmental groups to settle federal litigation to halt plans to build the Chimney Hollow Reservoir west of Berthoud, ending 18 years of fighting and litigation over the project.
In a statement, Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District said it will pay $15 million over multiple years to the Grand Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to Colorado River watershed protection in Grand County. In exchange, Save the Colorado, Save the Poudre, WildEarth Guardians, Living Rivers, Waterkeeper Alliance and the Colorado Sierra Club will drop their
joint lawsuit that was most recently brought into the federal appeals court in February. ....
