In contrast with traditional genetic modification , new breeding techniques (NBTs) do not introduce foreign DNA into an organism. The Indian government has offered to suspend three controversial new agricultural laws for up to 18 months as Prime Minister Narendra Modi attempts to quell nearly two months of protests by thousands of Indian farmers. As Bloomberg reports, the country’s top court had already put the implementation of the laws on hold and a panel of experts has been formed in an effort to end the deadlock. However, farmers have refused to appear before the panel, demanding full repeal ....
