Bitcoin mining officials vow to address noise concerns in the county

An official from a bitcoin mining operation told Washington County commissioners Monday his company is working to find a solution to noise issues at its facility in the Limestone community.
Todd Napier, who represents Red Dog Technologies, said his company is taking âvery seriouslyâ the complaints of the noise coming from the computers and cooling fans used in its cyber-mining operation.
âIt is our companyâs culture and desire to be a good neighbor,â said Napier, who also told commissioners his company has no plans to expand its current operations until the noise issues are abated.
Likewise, Jeff Dykes, the CEO of BrightRidge, said his utility has no plans to get involved in any additional bitcoin mining sites until the noise issues are remedied. ....

Commission to hear from BrightRidge about noise complaints

The meeting will begin at at 6 p.m. in the George P. Jaynes Justice Center.
The presentation was originally set to be on the commissionâs agenda in June, but was rescheduled after BrightRidge officials said the engineer who is involved in addressing those noise concerns was unable to attend that meeting.
Officials from BrightRidge were asked to come to the boardâs meeting after commissioners heard from residents in the Limestone community in May.
Craig Ponder, pastor of New Salem Baptist Church, said his congregation and neighbors of the community were being disturbed by the constant noise from the computers and cooling fans used by Red Dog Technologies in its cyber-mining operation. ....

Bitcoin issue to be heard by Washington County leaders in July

County commissioners will have to wait a month to hear a presentation from BrightRidge officials on steps the utility plans to take to address noise complaints at a bitcoin mining operation in rural Washington County.
Board Chairman Greg Matherly said Friday BrightRidge officials have promised to offer solutions to the problem when commissioners meet in July.
