Dimitry Anselme announced he was stepping down from the committee June 30. "I wasn't expecting it," School Committee Chairperson Suzanne Federspiel said. "We will dearly miss him. Wicked Local Dr. Linus Guillory will be Brookline's new permanent school superintendent, following the School Committee's unanimous approval Thursday. He will be the first Black superintendent the district has had. The position has been vacant since former Superintendent Andrew Bott stepped down nearly two years ago. Guillory will take the reins from Interim Superintendent Dr. Jim Marini, the second interim leader since Bott resigned. His appointment will be effective July 1 and is conditioned on the negotiation of his contract. The sole finalist in Brookline’s superintendent search (the other two finalists dropped out), Guillory brings with him more than 20 years in education. His experience ranges from nearby Lowell — where he currently serves as chief schools officer — to Rochester, New York, and Houston, Texas, where he worked for NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

Brookline School Committee begins search for superintendent Community Content The Brookline School Committee recently announced that they are launching a superintendent search to secure a permanent superintendent to succeed interim Superintendent Dr. James Marini. The committee has engaged the services of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees to assist with the search process. They are hoping to have a new superintendent in place by July 1, 2021. School committee members Helen Charlupski, chair; Dimitry Anselme; Suzanne Federspiel; and David Pearlman have agreed to serve on the Superintendent Search Committee. The list of community members who have agreed to serve on the Superintendent Search Public Advisory Committee will be released as soon as it is finalized.
