Dr. Linus Guillory will be Brookline's new permanent school superintendent, following the School Committee's unanimous approval Thursday.
He will be the first Black superintendent the district has had.
The position has been vacant since former Superintendent Andrew Bott stepped down nearly two years ago. Guillory will take the reins from Interim Superintendent Dr. Jim Marini, the second interim leader since Bott resigned. His appointment will be effective July 1 and is conditioned on the negotiation of his contract.
The sole finalist in Brookline’s superintendent search (the other two finalists dropped out), Guillory brings with him more than 20 years in education. His experience ranges from nearby Lowell — where he currently serves as chief schools officer — to Rochester, New York, and Houston, Texas, where he worked for NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
