Researchers at Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital have discovered that a new cancer drug has been successfully used to treat patients seriously ill with the coronavirus, Kan News reported Friday.
The drug EXO-CD24 is based on a biological protein normally associated with cancer research that is known to calm the body’s immune system, which in the second stage of coronavirus attacks itself and causes severe breathing problems.
The treatment developed by Professor Nadir Arber of the Integrated Cancer Prevention Center at the hospital was tested on 30 patients in moderate and serious condition suffering from the virus with a 95 percent positive result. ....

Israeli scientists have developed a promising new immune therapy that cured 100 percent of covid patients in three to five days. The therapy helps mitigate the cytokine storm that is sometimes observed in covid patients. The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center has developed a drug called EXO-CD24, which functions as an experimental inhaled medication. In the Phase 1 clinical trial, the medication cured all thirty cases of moderate to severe covid-19 infection. The medication is inhaled for a few minutes, once a day, for five days.
The immune therapy mitigates the overproduction of cytokines, restoring inter-cellular communication, and helping the person’s immune system detect and combat replicating viruses. Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv has published results of a study on the effect on Covid-19 of a drug called EXO-CD24, developed at the hospital. Thirty patients in moderate to severe condition received the drug, and 29 of them were released from hospital within three to five days. The condition of the thirtieth patient has not been reported.

A number of severely ill Covid-19 patients made a full recovery within five days after being treated with a relatively unknown cancer drug, according to multiple media reports in Israel today.
Researchers at the Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv told Israeli’s KAN News network that out of 30 seriously ill Covid-patients that were treated with the drug, 29 showed a significant improvement within two days and all were released within three to five days.
One patient ultimately did recover but this took “a few days” longer, according to the hospital’s Covid-19 lead, professor Nadir Arber. ....
