Pictured above are two Lock Haven University fraternity members, at left, handing a check worth approximately $5,500 to representatives for a local organization. Pictured, from left, Jerry Heaps of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE), Marc Bridgens of Lamda Chi Alpha, Arlene Clossner of the Keystone Central School District, and Dave Arsenault employed by Lock Haven State College and the head of the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC). Emerson Shaw tolls the old model school bell, refurbished and renewed by the 1961 class of the former Lock Haven State College now Lock Haven University. Class President Richard Hoover presented it as a gift from 1961 to the college and alumni in May of 1961 as the bell rang out from its new position in front of Stevenson Library. As right, two honor alumni, recognized the same day, stand by the bell. They are, J. Ward Hile, 1894, of Cresson, and State Senator George B. Stevenson, 1906, of Lock Haven. The library bears Senator Stevenson’s name.

LOCK HAVEN Lock Haven University welcomed seven African-American alumni for its virtual Black History Month Alumni Panel.
Six alumni panelists shared career advice and highlights from their time at The Haven, also while discussing how their LHU experiences helped propel their professional successes.
Ed Wright is a 1971 graduate of Lock Haven State College and a former president of the Lock Haven University Alumni Association. Wright helped organize the event along with Kenny Hall, LHU’s director of diversity, equity and inclusion.
“I want to thank all of the panelists for joining us and sharing their experiences,” Hall said. “I especially want to thank Ed Wright for being so instrumental in the organization of this event. We wouldn’t have been able to put together such a great event without him.” ....

Dr. George Dugan Wolf, age 97, Emeritus Pennsylvania State University Dean and Professor of American Studies and American Civilization, lifelong educator, Pennsylvania historian, Pennsylvania political analyst, author, Corporal in the United States Army, (E Company, 387th Infantry, 97th Division), World War II Army veteran, and seniors tennis player passed on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Bethany Village in Lower Allen Township with his beloved daughters Susan and Linnie by his side.
He was the widower of the former Margaret “Peg” Inez McNeil, who died in 2004. They were married 56 years. Born June 4 in Corry, Pennsylvania, he is the son of the late Norah Elizabeth Dugan and Sol Woodbridge Wolf, formerly of Williamsport, PA. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ayelien Richards of Dublin, PA; Salle Peters of West Chester, PA; and Richard Wolfe of Cherry Hill, NJ. ....

William Edward “Bill” Benton Jr., 77, of Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord on Thursday. He was surrounded by family at home. Bill was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late William E. Benton Sr. and Helena (Yahner) Benton.
He was united in marriage to Susan Sorgen on Nov. 27, 1965, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Jersey Shore.
Bill is survived by his wife; and two children, Polly Benton of Hollidaysburg and William E. Benton III and his wife, Toni, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; seven grandsons: Nicholas Brenneman, Curtis Brenneman, Elijah Klock, Lucas Thompson, William Benton IV, Charles Benton and Ethan Benton. He is also survived by a sister, Bonnie Cowell, of New Cumberland; and a brother, Gerald Benton, of Huntingdon. ....
