Fines and dog rehomed for fatal attacks on sheep, Bedchester

A dog has been rehomed and its owner fined following attacks on sheep in North Dorset.
The dog attacked sheep in the Bedchester area several times and two of those attacks resulted in the death of 12 sheep.
Local people wanted to shoot the dog, said a spokesperson for the police: The attacks had a significant impact on the local community, with persons actively looking to take matters into their own hands and shoot the dog involved.
Officers worked with the family and an animal rescue centre to get the dog rehomed with an appropriate and responsible owner in another part of the country, to be kept away from livestock. ....

Locked up in March: 12 Dorset criminals jailed for total of more than XXyears
CRIMINALS put behind bars in April for Dorset offences include three young thugs who burgled a family home, a drug dealer who peddled Class As while on bail and a robber who threatened shop staff with a syringe.
The courts are dealing with more and more cases, including jury trials, as the national lockdown easing continues.
The list below includes 12 offenders that were put behind bars by judges last month.
Their combined sentences totalled 54 years and and two weeks  imprisonment.
Some of them could be released on licence part way through their time behind bars, while several were issued with extended licence periods as they were deemed to be dangerous offenders . ....

Speeding disqualified driver labelled 'absolute maniac' by judge


Adam Woolward ignored the request of police officers to pull over on the A31 in East Dorset.
He “squeezed” the Volkswagen Touran he was driving between the marked police car and a van before travelling at around 75mph in a 50mph zone.
At Ashley Heath roundabout he failed to give way, nearly crashing as a result, before speeding at 80mph along a 40mph stretch of Horton Road.
Woolward, 28, pulled into a small gravel car park at Ringwood Forest and fled from the vehicle. However, he left the handbrake off, causing the car to roll back into the pursuing police car. ....
