Holland’s 2021 Tulip Dig exceeds expectations

HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland in Bloom’s 2021 Tulip Dig exceeded expectations, according to HIB’s Linda Hart, who is also executive director of Holland Visitors Bureau.
The 2021 Holland Tulip Dig raised $12,500 “for a single-day, two-hour fundraiser, it was fast and furious,” said Hart.
The money could be used for adding infrastructure to Holland’s community gardens; a Women’s Literary Club partnership. Hope College’s Tree Sap program, which inventories Holland trees; and a memorial garden honoring the late Jodi Syens.
Hart said the leftover tulips are not eligible for sale. ....

Library meeting room dedicated to Ed and Shirley Yeager
The meeting room at the Van Buren Public Library has been dedicated to Ed and Shirley Yeager. 
Ed Yeager died in 2020 and had a long history in Van Buren. He owned Yeager Ace Hardware, which has locations in Fort Smith, Van Buren, and Greenwood.
The land the library currently sits on was once owned by the Yeagers who donated the land. The library has a long history in Van Buren as it started in 1899. At the time, the Women s Literary Club established a shelf of books for public use in the side room of the Crawford County Bank.  ....

Evansville, WI - ANNETTE LOUISE (HYNE JOHNSON) LOSEY
Annette Losey, 95, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021 at The Heights Assisted Living, Evansville.
Annette Louise Hyne was born on August 8, 1925 in Rutland Township, Dane County Wisconsin, the fourth daughter of Merrel and Eva (Hagen) Hyne. The family moved to the Edward Hyne farm (Hyne Road) in Evansville in 1930. Annette and her three older sisters were known for their strong singing voices in the Cooksville Lutheran Church Choir. She graduated from Evansville High School in 1943. Following high school, Annette was employed by Baker Manufacturing, Crescent Department Store (Spokane, Washington), Bewick Law Office, and The Leader in Evansville. In 1990, Annette retired as Supervisor at First Financial Bank. ....
