YWCA displays red dresses to raise awareness of missing, murdered women

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - If you’ve taken a drive down South College Road there’s a good chance you’ve passed the three red dresses on display outside the Wilmington YWCA. The Red Dress exhibit was put up to start a conversation about the disproportionate rate of violence among Native American women.
Several tribes call our region home, and North Carolina has the largest American Indian population east of the Mississippi. To date, there are approximately 90 unsolved cases of missing and murdered indigenous women and children in North Carolina, dating as far back as the last 25 years. ....

NSW Women’s Alliance welcomes announcement of extended funding for specialist domestic and family violence services beyond 2021
The NSW Women’s Alliance welcomes Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s announcement that the Federal Government will work with the states to continue supplementary funding to frontline family, domestic and sexual violence services. Member organisations have experienced unprecedented client demand.
“This funding means organisations providing vital services for victim/survivors of sexual, family and domestic violence will be able to continue to meet significant community need,” says Domestic Violence NSW CEO, Delia Donovan.
