Three Noles Headed Back to Greensboro for NCAAs


TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –   The No. 25 Florida State women’s swimming and diving team will be represented by three Seminoles at the 2021 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
“We’re just really excited to be here,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “It’s been a tough year for everyone, so were just grateful to have this opportunity. We have three first-time individual qualifiers, which is really fun. We’re looking forward to enjoying the journey this week and having fun.”
Senior Emma Terebo, sophomore Tania Quaglieri and freshman Jenny Halden will start competing on Thursday with prelims of the 50 free. ....

Three Noles Headed to NCAA Championships
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  Three members of the RV Florida State women’s swimming and diving team will return to the Greensboro Aquatic Center to compete at the 2021 NCAA Championships from March 17-20
Senior Emma Terebo will swim at her third overall NCAAs after competing at the 2018 and 2019 meets as a relay swimmer, while freshman Jenny Halden and sophomore Tania Quaglieri will race at their first.
Terebo qualified for the NCAA meet in the 100 back, after posting a 53.01 for ninth place at the ACC Championships. The Noumea, New Caledonia, native, also swam provisional times in the 50 free (22.64) and 100 free (49.43) at ACCs and has the option to compete in those races at NCAAs. ....

Noles Add 400 Free Relay NCAA Automatic Bid


GREENSBORO, N.C.  –  Paced by an NCAA automatic time, two top eight finishes and a school record, the No. 15 Florida State swimming and diving team concluded the 2021 ACC Championships on Saturday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The Seminoles outscored No. 18 North Carolina (729) on the final day in order to finish in fifth place with a total of 740 points, in one of the most competitive championships in league history.
“On paper, we couldn’t catch North Carolina,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “But the guys dug deep and really killed it. It was truly an amazing last night.”
FSU earned its third NCAA automatic relay bid of the meet (200 MR, 200 FR), touching with a time of 2:50.74 in the 400 free relay behind the team of sophomore Peter Varjasi, freshman Mason Herbet along with juniors Jakub Ksiazek and Max McCusker. ....

Quaglieri Paces Noles with New 100 Back Record


GREENSBORO, N.C.  – Florida State sophomore Tania Quaglieri became the fastest Seminole in history in the 100 back, clocking a time of 52.17 at the 2021 Women’s ACC Championships and the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Friday.
Quaglieri advanced to the championship heat of the 100 back in eighth place after swimming a personal best of 52.97 in prelims.
Working from lane eight at night, Quaglieri used her speed in the front half of the race to set the tone.
The Nonatola, Italy, native, touched in sixth place (52.17), dropping almost two seconds from her seed time (53.90) in order to set the school record.  She took down McKayla Lightbourn’s mark of 52.39 that was set back in 2014. ....

ACC Championships Set to Begin Wednesday


TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  The 2021 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships are set to begin on Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center for the Florida State swimming and diving teams.
The first week of competition will run from Feb. 17-20 and will feature the Seminoles in women’s swimming and men’s diving, while the men’s swimming portion of the meet will  take place Feb. 24-27.
“It’s been a crazy year,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We were missing some key people, but the ladies are happy and having fun. We are looking forward to swimming fast.”
Competition will start with diving prelims on Wednesday at 11 a.m., featuring men’s 1-meter. ....
