Bring back the office! Majority looking forward to workplace return, new Formica Group research finds

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, England, April 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ A clear majority of Europeans (84%) are keen to have the office back in their lives, new research has found after a year of widespread homeworking instigated by COVID-19.
While more than half of Europeans (55%) say homeworking is more enjoyable than office working, 85% say the office remains either important or essential - with a lack of social interaction and collaborative working among the most cited challenges facing homeworkers.
The findings are detailed in a comprehensive new report released by Formica Group. Hundreds of workers in six European countries were questioned to understand the emotional and professional impacts of the last year, as well as their feelings ahead of a potential return to office working in 2021. ....

(Reuters) - The G4S takeover saga finally came to an end on Tuesday after a majority of the security company s shareholders accepted a 3.8 billion pound ($5.28 billion) offer from U.S. rival Allied Universal, snubbing hostile Canadian bidder GardaWorld.
Allied Universal said it had received valid acceptances representing roughly 79% of the G4S share capital. The threshold was 50% plus one G4S share.

The tsunami threat that followed earthquakes off the east coast of the North Island on March 5 created a stir in Ōrewa, as the area is vulnerable to tsunami.
There was no tsunami warning issued for Ōrewa – the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) advice was to stay away from the shore, due to the possibility of strong and unusual currents and tidal surges. However, many expressed confusion on social media about whether evacuation was called for.
High tide on March 5 was just after 1pm. The vast majority heeded the warning: “Do not go to the coast to watch unusual wave activity.” However, a handful of people were on the reserve by Ōrewa surf club, cellphones at the ready, at high tide; cars lined the seaward side of the carpark, and a few were out surfing small waves. A police car was in attendance. A small number of people of all ages were on Moana Reserve, closely watching the incoming tide. ....

CRAWLEY (dpa-AFX) - G4S plc (GFSZY.PK, GFS.L) said that a very large proportion of its shareholders have accepted Allied Universal s final offer.
G4S s board believes that the offer provides shareholders with an attractive premium, while securing the future success of G4S for employees, customers, pension scheme members and other stakeholders.
Allied Universal Topco said that it has received acceptances of 79.09% for the cash offer of 245 pence per G4S share made by Atlas UK Bidco Limited and that the Final Allied Universal Offer has become unconditional as to acceptances. ....
