As a rule, most people aren’t opposed to social housing. They are, however, tired of their neighbourhoods being collateral damage in the ongoing and ever-expanding efforts to house people living the chaotic and dysfunctional life that is chronic addiction. The familiar refrain that it’s easier to help someone out of their addiction if they are housed first is hard to swallow as more and more of the “housing with wrap-around 24/7 supports” that is being built seems designed more to support people in their continued “safe” use of drugs rather than to support them in their efforts to get off of drugs. ....
2. Delaying the second dose for quite some time (perhaps months) might not harm the resultant immunity. 3. A single dose of the mRNA vaccines appears to offer up to 90 per cent protection. 4. We don’t know the optimum dose or timing of the vaccines. When new drugs are tested they want them to be effective so usually the drug companies maximize the dosing. If we put these together, we can speculate that if we gave everyone a single dose of half the recommended amount we could get four times as many people an initial dose of vaccine. Having looked back at Furphy’s time at Vicarage Road last week, the Watford Treasury team has again been digging through our picture archives to offer a reminder of many of those players who took the club to new heights in the Football League. ....
Pat Jennings may not be at the top of most fans lists if you ask them to name Watford s greatest goalkeeper, but the legendary Northern Irishman is unrivalled in terms of his career achievements and his standing in the game. Having focused on Steve Sherwood, Andy Rankin and Micky Walker last week, the Watford Treasury has again been looking back through the picture archives at five more goalkeepers from the club s past, including Jennings. Signed from Newry Town, an illustrious career in the English game began with a 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers in May 1962. Jennings was an ever-present the following season as Bill McGarry s side narrowly missed out on promotion to Division Two, but the goalkeeper s rise did continue that summer as he was signed by Tottenham Hotspur. ....
