Trump's top ally? Ex-Ohio treasurer Josh Mandel starts senate campaign

COLUMBUS – Former Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel launched his U.S. Senate campaign on the premise that he was former President Donald Trump s No. 1 ally in Ohio.
Mandel, the first Republican to throw his hat in the ring to replace Sen. Rob Portman, is expected to face a heated GOP primary that tests each candidate s allegiance to Trump in a state the former president won by 8 percentage points, twice. Former Ohio Republican Party leader Jane Timken, U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson and other pro-Trump candidates are considering bids.
I ve been President Trump s No. 1 ally in the state, Mandel said of his Trump credentials.  I ve been proud to carry the Trump banner when others were hiding in the closet and I ve showed a willingness to take on leaders of my party when it means standing up for conservative values.   ....

Kennedy Kent Files Suit Against Own Caucus

0:46
Democratic Representative Bernadine Kennedy Kent claims she was kicked out of the House Democratic Caucus in retaliation for a floor speech blasting Columbus Police for their handling of Black crime victim cases. Her lawyer Nick Owens says Kent has PTSD and anxiety and feared further retaliation so she didn’t run for re-election. But he says she’s still a Democrat, though she publicly endorsed President Trump.

“Even if she voted for Donald Trump, the law is clear. All members of the state legislature elected under the affiliation of their party are then respective members of their caucuses.”

A spokesperson for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus had no comment on the lawsuit. Kennedy Kent hasn’t been to the Statehouse since she was blocked from coming into a caucus meeting in May 2019. ....
