The Portier Lecture is the annual history lecture, named in honor of Bishop Michael Portier, the first bishop of Mobile, who founded Spring Hill College in 1830. Fraud led to wrongful drunken driving arrest, according to lawsuit


A Lenawee County man has filed a federal lawsuit against Michigan State Police employees and the state’s former station breath-testing provider after a drunken driving case against him was dropped amid a police fraud investigation.
Kerry Miller, U.S. Marines veteran, says his drunken-driving case shouldn’t have been brought in the first place because of falsification of certifications for the devices, according to the lawsuit filed Jan. 26 in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan.
The lawsuit was filed against three former and current Michigan State Police employees Sgt. Gina Gettel, Sgt. Perry Curtis and technical leader for the breath-testing program, W. Mark Fondren the breath-testing machine vendor Intoximeters and three unnamed contracted employees. ....
