Following the release of the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary, Altadis U.S.A. continues to focus on its most iconic premium brand with the upcoming Montecristo Epic Vintage 12, a cigar that the company says contains tobacco from a 2012 harvest. It’s the newest addition to the vintage-specific Montecristo Epic series, which began nine years ago and has seen little expansion since. Rafael Nodal, head of product capability for Altadis’ parent company Tabacalera USA, tells Cigar Aficionado that the Epic Vintage 12 consists of an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, Dominican binder and a filler blend of Nicaraguan leaf as well as some Dominican tobacco grown in 2012 the cigar’s defining element. ....
The Valley Christian High boys and girls cross country teams participated in three Olympic League cluster meets in a span of one month and not much changed after each race. Both teams came out on top to become league champions this past Saturday with the top five runners claiming the same positions. The girls picked up 36 team points and had four runners finish within the top nine. Maranatha High had 46 points while Village Christian High was third with 68 points and Heritage Christian High fourth with 72 points. “The meet was a big success and from my point of view, everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoyed themselves,” said V.C. first-year head coach Craig Henry. “I just thank God that we made it out of this 2020/2021 season relatively unscathed. We survived Covid, the takeover of the capital, the fires, riots, demonstrations, stay at home orders and home schooling.” ....

Last Friday, the CIF-Southern Section released an update on the return to play for athletes, which included the latest adjusted case rate it received from Governor Gavin Newsom’s office and the California Department of Public Health. For outdoor athletics to happen, a county must have a case rate of 14, or fewer, per 100,000 people. Last Friday, Los Angeles County was at 20.0 and Orange County was at 20.7. However, this past Tuesday, those numbers had dropped to 12.3 and 11.9 respectively. Nearly six months after the high school cross country season was supposed to start in a normal year, Valley Christian High hosted the first of two Olympic League cluster meets last Saturday morning. In this unprecedented season because of the global pandemic, the cross country season was to have started in late December and this meet was originally scheduled to take place on Jan. 20. ....
