In response to this Executive Order, USDA is seeking input from farmers and other interested stakeholders to collect feedback on a climate-smart agriculture strategy. To collect this information, USDA has published a Federal Register notice posing a series of questions to allow farmers the opportunity to submit their comments and ideas. Illinois Farm Bureau is calling on members to utilize the ACT to submit their opinions and ideas to these questions by this coming Friday. Illinois Farm Bureau will be collecting submitted thoughts and ideas will be incorporated into an IFB public comment. The program provides services, supplies and staff for the Boys and Girls Ranch located in Gilbertsville to provide children an opportunity to experience a positive and uplifting summer camp in a supportive setting. Many of the items needed on the wish list are pandemic-related and include touchless thermometers, hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray, disinfecting wipes, face masks, laundry detergent and hand pump soap. ....
Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 5, 2021 8:26 AM Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles is honoring a Muhlenberg County teen for his successes in agriculture and in athletics. Six students were named the 2021 Kentucky High School Athletic Association-Kentucky Department of Agriculture Ag Athletes of the Year recently, with Austin Randolph of Muhlenberg County High School one of two receiving a $2,000 scholarship. The only other Western Kentucky teen honored was Fulton County resident Charles Murphy, who received a $1,000 scholarship. The one-time scholarships, payable to an institution of higher learning, are awarded to high school seniors involved in athletics and agriculture who plan on continuing their education at a two- or four-year institution or trade school. ....
Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 5, 2021 8:59 AM A Hopkinsville man was recently arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office following an accident and shots fired call. Deputies were notified of an accident in the Greenville Road area Thursday night and made contact with 52-year old Robert Wagner. Witnesses said Wagner had fired a gun into the air near a residential area of Cave Street prior to the crash. A news release says Wagner had an odor of alcohol coming from his person, his speech was slurred and his eyes were red and glassy. A handgun was seized from Wagner and it was a preliminary match to a shell casing found on scene. ....
