Call to review decision to have TIA checker


THE Surveyors, Planners, Engineers, Architects and Developers Malaysia (SPEAD) organisation is hoping that the Penang Island City Council will review its decision to appoint an independent Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) checker effective Jan 1 this year.
Tan Hun Beng, who is Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Penang branch chairman, said they objected strongly to the council’s decision made without any prior consultation.
“The council is not able to present a strong justification for the need to have an independent TIA checker.
“The independent checker’s scope and terms of reference were not made known to us, ” Tan said. ....
