Ogdensburg Police Chief Wescott will retire, city manager offers praise

OGDENSBURG Ogdensburg Police Chief Robert Wescott will retire from the city police force at the end of the month.
“The City of Ogdensburg respectfully announces the well earned retirement of Police Chief Robert Wescott. Chief Wescott served the Ogdensburg Police Department in every rank and capacity for over 25 years since beginning his career in 1996.,” City Manager Stephen Jellie said.
Wescott is a graduate of Lisbon High School, SUNY Canton and a member of the first graduating class of the David Sullivan St. Lawrence County Law Enforcement Academy. Chief Wescott resides in Ogdensburg with his companion of 11 years, Andrea and their 5 children. ....

Customers extinguish fire at Bayside; Ogdensburg police investigating harassment complaint

OGDENSBURG Ogdensburg City Police are investigating an incident that occurred after two customers extinguished a fire at the Bayside Grill this weekend.
The customers used fire extinguishers to put out a fire believed to have been caused by an improperly discarded cigarette, according to City Manager and Fire Chief Stephen Jellie.
He said the fire was small and had been extinguished when he arrived on scene.
Ogdensburg Police Chief Robert Wescott said the city is investigating another incident that occurred after the fire was extinguished but could not share details at this time as it remains under investigation. ....

No injuries following multiple shots fired in Ogdensburg Sunday night; one charged and another in custody

OGDENSBURG Ogdensburg police say no one was injured after multiple shots were fired at the intersection of Mansion Ave. and Ogden Street Sunday shortly after 10 p.m.
Ogdensburg Police Chief Robert Wescott said a female has been charged and released and one male is in custody related to the incident.
He said additional charges are expected, but the investigation is still underway.
“We will be putting out a formal press release when there is more information available,” he said.
