Hibbing Foundation awards over $51,00 to local nonprofits


HIBBING — The Hibbing Foundation and its ‘Family of Funds’ has impacted the community throughout the years by awarding nearly $2.6 million to over 1,600 organizations.
The Hibbing Foundation is proud to announce its 2021 grant recipients. Eighteen organizations received grants totaling $51,220.
• Access North Center for Independent Living or Northeastern Minnesota: general program support that would allow Access North the ability to hire a full-time ramp carpenter to oversee the construction of home access ramps. This $5,000 grant was made possible by the Linda Forti Hibbing Foundation Fund, Bruno & Sylvia Family Hibbing Foundation Fund, John & Nancy Ryan Family Hibbing Foundation Fund, James H. Ryan Family Hibbing Foundation Fund, The Jeno F. & Lois Mae Paulucci Fund of Hibbing Foundation, and the Dr. Benjamin P. Owens Hibbing High School Legacy Foundation. ....

This winter, 75 families from Duluth will receive a Welcome Home Kit filled with household essentials through the Bremer Home For Good initiative. Made possible in part by Bremer Bank’s growing partnership with United Way, the Bremer Home For Good collaboration will provide 1,500 Welcome Home Kits to families and individuals who are transitioning from homelessness to secure, permanent housing throughout Bremer’s footprint in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Grand Rapids Project Care Free Clinic reopens January 19


 
Project Care Free Clinics of the Iron Range, like many other non-profit organizations, had to pivot with a redirection during the COVID-19 pandemic. The clinics went to telehealth formats in March 2020 and will be reopening their physical office in Grand Rapids beginning January 19, 2021.
In 2011, Project Care opened its satellite clinic in Grand Rapids, offering up basic medical care services, health outreach, and continuity of care to the uninsured.  Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the clinics were seeing seven to nine walk-in patients regularly per two-hour clinic. 
“Hibbing has always maintained the greatest concentration of patients yet Grand Rapids has experienced a noticeable rise in new patients,” stated Grand Rapids Site Coordinator Pam Dowell. “At one point we discussed opening for an extra day because of increasing numbers” ....

Project Care Free Clinic reopening


Project Care Free Clinic of Grand Rapids will be reopening the clinic building on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, with weekly clinics from 5:30 – 7 p.m.  The clinic will be operating by appointment only, with Covid pre-screening required. No walk-ins at this time. 
Project Care Free Clinic provides basic healthcare services for the uninsured and is located at 100 NW 3rd Street, Suite 2 in Grand Rapids. Call 218-326-7008 for more information and directions on how to arrange an appointment.
