A former beachside rental made of horsecars, St. Andrews church served the Carville and Oceanside community in the 1910s.

St. Andrew s by the Sea church, whose second floor was made of North Beach and Mission line horsecars, served the streetcar community of Carville. The Protestant Episcopal church shows up in city directories at 1338 47th Avenue from 1908 through 1911.
Originally called the Vista del Mar, it was constructed in the 1890s and rented out as a beachside retreat by a Mrs. Patriarch.

Department Of Defense May Change The Name Of Fort Polk
A Department of Defense (DOD) panel has been assembled to decide if Fort Polk will be renamed.
The panel committee has been charged with the comission to investigate any DOD properties named after any person who voluntarily served with the Confederate States of America as well as those that commemorate the Confederate States of America.
Secretary of Defense Chris Miller announced the committee has currently identified ten military installations, including Fort Polk, that have names tied to the Confederacy. The investigation will decide whether or not to change the names of DOD properties. ....

Maybe ‘fascinated’ is not the correct word for what I feel when reading these old newspapers… maybe nostalgia or maybe I just love old newspapers and magazines. I have a collection of Life magazines from the 1940’s price 10c.
This copy of The Enterprise from 95 years ago, for instance, quoting the Saranac Lake Chief of Police Frank E. Sheldon about the weather on the day of the parade of the first Winter Carnival in 1898. For me it was like talking to him.
I think it is so sad that newspapers are disappearing at an alarming rate. Will there be any method for one to describe 95 years from now what was happening here in 2020? Will anyone care? Will someone still have a video on their cell phone, a snippet of some television story or perhaps a search of computer archives to tell the story? I doubt it. ....
