Historic Preservation Commission on Historic Preservation Month – Sheridan Media

May is National Historic Preservation Month, and the Sheridan County Historic Preservation Commission will be celebrating with a number of activities.
Edre Maier and Kristin Campbell were guests on Sheridan Media’s talk show Public Pulse this week, and Campbell discussed National Historic Preservation Month.
This is the first year that Sheridan has been involved in the celebration, which Maier said is exciting because Sheridan has so much to offer from a historical standpoint.
Campbell said the Sheridan County Historic Preservation Commission was disbanded a few years ago but was recently reestablished by the Sheridan County Commission.

When ANC 3C passed a resolution this year in support of more density along Connecticut Avenue in Cleveland Park, it was a significant moment. The neighborhood is a textbook example of a wealthy area that has preserved its exclusivity through low-density zoning, which largely makes illegal anything but single-family homes especially on residential streets.
The city’s population has grown over the last two decades, and is likely to continue to do so. Even if COVID stunts the inmigration growth rates cities saw pre-pandemic, the District’s population is increasing primarily because its existing residents are having kids.
But during these decades of growth, neighborhoods in Wards 2 and 3, like Cleveland Park, have added nearly no new homes at all, let alone subsidized or income-restricted affordable housing. ....

Bernardsville, Watchung residents among Somerset County historic preservation award winners

The winners are recognized at a virtual ceremony earlier this year.

Developers propose 10-story housing project near Monona Terrace in Madison

I don t think height will likely be a stumbling block. The design progression has been good but needs to progress further.
The developers have been working with a neighborhood steering committee this fall.Â A new design concept was well-received by the steering committee at a meeting with the development team on Thursday night, said Jonathan Cooper, chair of the Bassett District of Capitol Neighborhoods Inc.
