The authorization request was submitted to the FDA on April 9, 2021. Pfizer indicated a Phase 3 clinical trial for this age group (about 1,200 participants) found that the vaccine is 100% efficacious and had a similar side-effect profile as those between the ages of 16 and 25. When it does, communities across Alaska can immediately begin vaccinating children in this age group, said Dr. Rabinowitz in an Alaska DHAA Insight. ....
April 21, 2021 • 3:52 pm CDT (Precision Vaccinations) France-based Valneva SE announced it had initiated a pivotal Phase 3 clinical trial for its inactivated, adjuvanted COVID-19 vaccine candidate, VLA2001. The Phase 3 trial, “Cov-Compare” (VLA2001-301), will compare VLA2001 against AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 conditionally approved vaccine, known as Vaxzevria in a comparative immunogenicity trial. Approximately 4,000 participants located in the United Kingdom (UK) will receive two doses of either vaccine administered in a four-week interval. The primary endpoint of Cov-Compare will be to determine the immune response (Geometric Mean Titer (GMT)) of SARS-CoV-2-specific neutralizing antibodies) two weeks after immunization. The trial is powered to demonstrate the superiority of VLA2001 in terms of GMT ratio (VLA2001/Vaxzevria). ....
April 17, 2021 • 5:39 pm CDT (Precision Vaccinations) A western Alaska village now requires people to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine before entering local stores and businesses. Sheila Phillip, the Kongiganak, Alaska, Traditional Council secretary, stated people who are fully vaccinated can go inside the village’s two stores if they wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines, reported local media. Store employees verify a person s vaccination status by checking a list provided by the tribe, KYUK-AM reported. People not fully vaccinated “can still make phone orders, and their orders are delivered to their home,” Phillip said. About 600 residents live in Kongiganak, and most refer to the village as Kong, says the local school. ....
