Humans are more closely related to dinosaurs than they are to octopuses. Our lineage split from that of cephalopods the spineless class that includes octopuses, squids and cuttlefish half a billion years ago. Octopus brains lack any of the major anatomical features of vertebrate brains, and most of the animals neurons are distributed across their arms rather than in their head.
Yet octopuses are extremely intelligent, with a larger brain for their body size than all animals except birds and mammals. Adults with chronic mental illness get work training at Gainesville Opportunity Center


Men and women with chronic mental illness keeping them from gainful employment and social activities are working their way to recovery through the Gainesville Opportunity Center.
Brett Buell, co-director with Maggie Hanon at the center, said GOC is a  community- partnership program where people whose lives have been drastically interrupted by a major mental illness come voluntarily to rebuild their lives and achieve recovery through work. They stay out of hospitals, and achieve dreams and goals of social, financial, educational and vocational independence.  
Established in 2007, GOC operated from an office space until this October when it moved to a sizable permanent house located at 1210 NW 14th Ave. Buell said the house offers opportunities to serve more people and offer more programs. ....
