MACOMB – McDonough County CEO is pleased to announce Alison Jefferson will serve as their new facilitator, providing leadership and organization for this year’s CEO students.
“I want to continue to build upon this first-class program for our participants through valuable business site-visits, inspiring speakers, and facilitating meaningful discussion and self-reflection in the classroom,” said Jefferson, a Colchester native. “I hope to learn just as much as our students.”
Prior to this position, Jefferson served as program director for the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation and has experience advising students at the collegiate level. According to McDonough CEO board chair Sarah Grant, the combination of those skills makes Jefferson uniquely qualified for the CEO facilitator position. ....

Bushnell/Prairie City school board approves new school schedule

BUSHNELL The Bushnell-Prairie City CUSD 170 Board voted to approve changes to the junior high school schedule, including the creation of a 12 period day.
Incoming junior high school principal Nathan Harrison said the changes in the schedule will allow students to participate in fine arts and agriculture electives for all three grade levels and will provide additional reading, writing and math instruction.
He said his goal of expanding reading, writing and math instruction was to help junior high students do well in all subjects, not just their language arts and math classes. Both Superintendent Kathy Dinger and school board member John Oakman said additional reading and writing instruction would help students out in their science and social studies classes. Area graduates receive Fulton County 4-H scholarships

LEWISTOWN, Ill. - 4-H is the youth education program of University of Illinois Extension. Through 4-H there are several local scholarships available.
These scholarships go to current Fulton County 4-H members who actively participate in 4-H events, and who have shown great accomplishments through 4-H. This year Fulton County 4-H presented scholarships to eight graduates from four area high schools.
Five scholarships were awarded from funds donated in memory of Hilda Rock, a long-time 4-H leader from the Cuba area, by her family. Receiving $500 each were Lydia Curless, Kendra Hartstirn, Max Johnson, Jenna Spangler, and Audrey Tarochione.
Max Johnson also received the Merle L. Jenkins Memorial Agricultural Scholarship of $150.  Merle L. Jenkins, a 1939 graduate of the University of Illinois (B.S. Agriculture), was a long-time supporter of agriculture, youth, and education in Fulton County, including service on the Fulton County Fair Board and Lewistown ....
