Professor Sanjaya Senanayake of the Australian National University said the greatest minds on Earth including inventor Elon Musk should put their energies into stopping the next outbreak.
The last pandemic comparable to Covid-19 was Spanish Flu in 1918 which killed about 17million people - but Professor Senanayake said another virus just as dangerous would re-appear much sooner than in 100 years time.

Deakin University chair of epidemiology Catherine Bennett said the reduction in new cases to eight in the 24 hours before Tuesday morning – following 15 on Monday and 30 on Sunday – was encouraging.
However, she said people who picked up coronavirus in the northern beaches area could live in other parts of Sydney and have spread it, which Victorian authorities would be closely monitoring.
