In 1992 I started a degree in civil engineering at the University of Surrey. I had no idea until the day I arrived that I would be sharing a room with Carol, also a civil engineering student. We had very different tastes in music. I loved the Cure and Led Zeppelin and Carol loved dance music. We created a mixtape of songs that we both liked – no mean feat, but we had to do something as I kept playing 29 Palms by Robert Plant and it drove Carol mad.

James Blake Covers Billie Eilish, Steve Wonder, Beyoncé, & More In Tender, New EP

James Blake is probably one of the most underappreciated artists in EDM; and sort of predictably so, as his music doesn’t fit the typical festival archetype of electronic music. Making use of his phenomenal voice and often producing very mellow, melodic songs doesn’t get you fist-pumping at a club in the middle of the night. However, the electronic elements he layers on top of his songs give them a wonderful new life.
Now, at the end of the year, he’s released his hotly anticipated

Covers, the singer has shared covers of Ocean’s “Godspeed” – the studio cover of which he first released in September – Eilish’s “when the party’s over”, Joy Division’s “Atmosphere”, Stevie Wonder’s “Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer”, a segment from Beyoncé’s “OTHERSIDE”, and Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”.
“It’s been a joy to discover new music and new ways of playing songs I’ve already heard,” Blake said in a statement.
The release marks his second of 2020, following his October EP,

The English artist has enjoyed a busy 2020 in spite of the pandemic, with his IG Live concerts keeping fans entertained.
His Before EP landed earlier this year, before James Blake decided to focus on something quite different.
