New Holland Brewing returns to full production following February fire Updated 11:44 AM; Facebook Share HOLLAND, MI New Holland Brewing Co. is once again brewing beer at its Holland production facility after a fired damaged the building on Feb. 21. “The damage was contained to one area of the brewhouse, but it did set us back considerably” Jason Salas, the company’s brewmaster, said in a statement. “It has taken more than a month to repair the damage, clean the facility and get our equipment back up to the standard we require for producing the beer of the highest possible quality.” An electrical fire damaged one wall and the roof of the brewhouse. Repairs, which took five weeks to complete, were finished this week, the company said in a news release. ....

More than 6,000 beers from all over the world competed in the challenge this year. Organizer say that judging is blind, so judges know only the categories like Robust Porters and Fruity IPAs , but not the names of the actual beers or the location from which they come. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, judging was held in both the U.S. and Canada, at locations including Atlanta, GA; Oxford, Ohio; and Welland, Ontario. ....

Cedar Springs Brewing Company continued its winning streak at the U.S. Open Beer Championship for the third year in a row. Küsterer Pils (Bohemian Pilsener) and Eire Irish Stout (Classic Irish Dry Stout) both earned gold in their respective categories. New Holland Brewing Company also won gold for its Dragon’s Milk White barrel-age pale, silver for Hazy River hazy pale ale and bronze for Dragon’s Milk Solera in the barrel-aged strong beer category. ....
