TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Helping Tallahassee's most vulnerable, and the environment, Ellen Oetau and other members of Good Samaritan Methodist Church are making mats out of plastic bags for the city's homeless.
"I hope this is a help to the homeless community that's the main thing," said Oetau. "But in the process, we are also keeping the bags out of the landfills."
Big Bend Continuum of Care's annual report reveals although homelessness is down 29% while around 3,000 people are homeless in Leon County every year.

Plaquemines Port and APM Terminals have announced an agreement to work together to discuss the future design of the Plaquemines Port Harbor and Terminal District (PPHTD), including the consideration of APM Terminals as the future terminal operator.
The facility is in the early stages of development as a deep water, multi-modal, state-of-the-art container terminal in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. Located on the Mississippi river just 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico the gateway port would cater to exporters and importers who could tap into the multimodal routing options from rail, truck and barge. The agreement represents a formal discussion phase whereby both parties will conduct multiple studies prior to making a final investment decision. The proposed, environmentally friendly terminal, will be powered by a combination of LNG and electricity.

The agreement represents a formal discussion phase whereby both parties will conduct multiple studies prior to making a final investment decision.
It will encompass up to 1,000 acres and 8,200 feet of Mississippi River frontage. The proposed terminal will provide multimodal routing options to exporters and importers. The terminal will utilise a combination of LNG and electricity for power supply.

Plaquemines Port, APM Terminals Announce Talks To Develop Future Container Terminal

Officials with the Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District (PPHTD) and APM Terminals, an A.P.Moller-Maersk company, have announced an agreement to collaborate on the future design of the port’s long-planned container terminal near Mile 50 on the Lower Mississippi River. According to the announcement, part of the discussion will include the consideration of APM Terminals as the future terminal’s operator.
The deepwater, multimodal container facility would be located near Point Celeste, La., on the right descending bank.
“The appeal of Plaquemines’ protected river port location and export/import market strength makes this a very unique supply chain offering for customers and our growth ambitions,” said Wim Lagaay, CEO of APM Terminals North America, which also operates the container terminal at nearby Port of Mobile, Ala. “We look forward to working with PPHTD, their partners and with state and local leaders to ensure the port is set up for long-term success.”
