Self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri s daughters and mother-in-law have been prevented from leaving Malawi.
Bushiri’s attorney Wapona Kita confirmed to TimesLIVE that the daughters and their grandmother were on Friday prevented from travelling to Kenya.
“We are still trying to understand why they were blocked from leaving because they have not committed any offence and there are no travel restrictions imposed on them,” he said.
Kita did not divulge further details on why the children and their grandmother were going to Kenya and when they had planned to return to Malawi. ....

Religare scam: Anticipatory bail plea of former director dismissed

A Delhi court has dismissed an anticipatory bail plea of Avinash Chander Mahajan, former independent director of Religare Finvest Ltd, in a case of alleged misappropriation of funds worth Rs 2,397 crores.
Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Yadav said a futile attempt was made by Mahajan to distance himself from the alleged loans extended to 14 entities who were related to or controlled by or associated with promoters.
The court said Mahajan did not express any concern or opposed the alleged loan proposal which clearly established conspiracy with the promoters/other accused persons for alleged diversion of funds.
Thus, the applicant not only approved loan but also ratified the same. Thus, a futile attempt was made by applicant to distance himself from the loans extended to 14 entities who were related to or controlled by or associated with promoters, it said in its order passed on February 20. ....

Jordan- Scholar seeks to decipher ancient inscriptions in Black Desert

(MENAFN - Jordan Times) AMMAN â Recent discoveries in the Black Desert in eastern Jordan offered a glimpse into the religious practices in ancient times, according to a Jordanian historian.
Speaking during a recent webinar organised by the American Centre of Research in Amman, Ahmad Al Jallad, professor of philology at Ohio State University, said that human habitation in the Black Desert stretches from the Prehistoric Period to the modern times.
During a two-week survey in June of 2019, Jallad and his team discovered a site with hundreds of scripts in Safaitic and Greek, he said.
One of the most remarkable features of the Black Desert are its inscriptions, Jallad said, adding that petroglyphs (images of animals and humans) are also found in the area, and these scripts give an insight about the inhabitants of the desert. ....

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Dr Noor-ul-Haq Qadri has urged ulema and Mashaikh to make collective efforts to promote inter-faith harmony in the society.
Addressing Khatoon-e-Jannat Confernce in Islamabad, he said that they should come forward and play their due role to eradicate the atmosphere of hatred and segregation.
He said that anti-Islam elements want to create differences among the various sects of Islam and we need to thwart their conspiracies and nefarious designs.
The Minister said that the PTI leg government is taking effective measures to engage the western society about blasphemy. He said these efforts cannot be successful without support of the Muslim Ummah. ....
