Journal Sentinel Stops Printing Mugshots, Citing Racial Justice Concerns | 1310 WIBA

By Dan O Donnell
May 13, 2021
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel will no longer print mugshots of criminal suspects, multiple sources tell The Dan O Donnell Show. During a lengthy newsroom meeting Wednesday, the newspaper s senior editors announced a change in policy that was prompted by social justice concerns.
Apparently they think that running mug shots perpetuates racial biases, said one source. They don t want readers drawing racist inferences if they run mug shots of minority suspects.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has not yet responded to a request for comment and has not yet publicly announced its change in policy. In 2018,
Journal Sentinel owner Gannett removed all mugshot galleries from its websites and last June announced that it would remove such galleries from all sites owned by the former GateHouse Media. GateHouse Media acquired Gannett and took its name in early 2020.

The pride of America has long been its military or, more accurately, the brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who have served in it. When our country needed them most, our boys answered the call. And even when they weren’t allowed, so have our girls.
This is the Forgotten History of the Girl Who Wouldn’t Stop Fighting.
Johnny Compton was a rough and tumble boy with an even tougher upbringing. He wasn’t the type to delve into personal details, so it was near impossible to get the truth out of him. Sometimes he said he was from Tennessee, other times from Pennsylvania or even Canada.

Brewers take Cardinals to extras, only to fall big | 1310 WIBA

By Doug Russell
Chalk it up to another missed opportunity.
Tuesday night in their series opening three-game series with division rival St. Louis, the Milwaukee Brewers had the game-winning run in Billy McKinney on third base in the 10th inning and failed to score him.
In the top of the 11th, the roof caved in on the Milwaukee bullpen. When the carnage stopped, the Cardinals escaped with a 6-1 victory, highlighted by 11th inning home runs by Paul Goldschmidt and Tyler O’Neill off of Brad Boxberger that accounted for all five runs.
A silver lining for Milwaukee continues to be their starting pitching. Brewers starter Freddy Peralta pitched seven innings of one-hit shutout ball, striking out 8 and walking one.
