The Minister said, “We are seeing significant confusion in the e-commerce market, both from businesses and consumers.

“This can be detrimental for consumers and mean that they may be more vulnerable to scams or have less choice in price and range of goods.
“To date, my officials and The Consumer Council have been responding to queries on this.
“The Consumer Council has also published helpful frequently asked questions for consumers.

“I now want to see action from the UK Government aimed at businesses in GB to clarify the position as there is currently little understanding of this.
“I wrote to Cabinet Office Secretary Michael Gove on the issue last month and will continue to call for this to be addressed urgently.” ....

LONDON, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Britain has asked for an extension until 2023 of a grace period on checks that would be conducted on trade moving between Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom to soften the Brexit impact on the province, the BBC reported.
Political editor Laura Kuenssberg said Cabinet Office Secretary Michael Gove had written to the European Commission s vice president, Maros Sefcovic, to ask for urgent political solutions.
As part of the Brexit divorce deal, the two sides agreed a three-month grace period on checks on food goods being moved by supermarkets and some wholesale groups from Britain to Northern Ireland, to ease the impact of the post-Brexit new rules. The UK has requested for an extension of a grace period until 2023 on trade checks that would be conducted between Northern Ireland and the rest of the Kingdom, BBC News reports, citing Cabinet Office Secretary Michael Gove’s letter to the European Commission’s Vice President Maros Sefcovic.
Reuters reported that the two sides had agreed a three-month grace period on checks on food goods being moved by supermarkets and some wholesale groups from Britain to Northern Ireland, as a part of the Brexit deal.

Stormont’s Economy Minister has called for urgent action from the UK Government on parcel deliveries to Northern Ireland.
It followed the end of the Brexit transition period and the establishment of the Northern Ireland Protocol which affects trade to Northern Ireland from Great Britain.
Diane Dodds attested to “significant confusion” in the e-commerce market from businesses and consumers.
Mrs Dodds said: “This can be detrimental for consumers and mean that they may be more vulnerable to scams or have less choice in price and range of goods.
