Marathon Resident Accused of Sex Abuse in Broome County

Wesley Baker of Marathon is charged with felony sex abuse in connection with the alleged incident dating back to 2018.
Broome County Sheriff’s Detectives say they arrested Baker on Thursday, February 25.
He was released after his arraignment.

Kengo Suzuki set a Japan men’s record in winning the 76th and final running of the Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon in 2 hours, 4 minutes and 56 seconds on Sunday.
The 25-year-old took the sole lead around the 36-kilometer mark and had enough left in his tank to increase the pace toward the finish line as he eclipsed the previous record of 2:05:29 set by Suguru Osako at last March’s Tokyo Marathon. ....

These days, I frequently dream about indulging in crowded, indoor gatherings.
It feels so good to interact with other people in person, but even while I’m doing it I have the creeping feeling that something is wrong. After the event still dreaming I’m hit by a wave of realization, dread and guilt.
A two-week ticker starts after I’ve left the gathering. I feel disappointed in myself, yet also understanding it’s so natural to want to be other people and so absolutely normal. I can see how I slipped up.
Of course, in my waking life I am a hell of a lot more meticulous. As someone with an underlying condition and therefore vulnerable to COVID-19, I have been on the more extreme end of risk aversion when it comes to public spaces. ....

Kevin Durant out until after All-Star break with hamstring injury

NEW YORK Kevin Durant will be out through the All-Star break because of a hamstring injury, sidelining the Brooklyn Nets star from a game for which he was chosen to serve as a captain.
The Nets said on Friday (Saturday, Manila time) that after a routine follow-up MRI on Durant s left hamstring, it was determined that he needed additional recovery time.
Durant has missed Brooklyn s last six games. The Nets, who have won eight straight, have three more games before the break.
Durant, in his first season back after recovering from surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, was the leading vote-getter in the Eastern Conference. That made him a captain of one of the teams in the March 7 All-Star Game, and he s scheduled to select a team opposite LeBron James next Thursday. ....
