Swiss gov't looks to boost domestic COVID-19 vaccine, therapy production

ZURICH (Reuters) -Switzerland will investigate ways to strengthen domestic COVID-19 vaccine and drug development and production, the government said on Wednesday, reacting as global demand outstrips supply due to rising infections at home and abroad.
The government also announced it was setting aside $100 million to buy costly antibody therapies, including from U.S.-based Regeneron and Swiss drugmaker Roche, in part for those who are still unvaccinated but live in households where somebody has been infected. ....

(Reuters) -Europe’s drug regulator said on Wednesday it planned to issue a recommendation on Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine next week, but that it continued to believe the benefits of the shot outweighed the risks of side effects.

China's mRNA COVID-19 vaccine may start late-stage trial in May - state media

BEIJING (Reuters) - China’s locally developed COVID-19 vaccine candidate that uses messenger RNA (mRNA) technology could start late-stage clinical trial overseas as early as next month, official media said on Tuesday.
ARCoV, the China-developed mRNA vaccine candidate that is furthest along the clinical trial process, may get overseas approval to conduct Phase III clinical trial by as early as end-April, China National Radio said in an article on its website. ....

ZURICH (Reuters) - U.S. regulators have recommended pausing the use of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine as they investigate rare blood clotting in six women, including one who died.

J&J also said it was delaying the rollout of its vaccine in Europe. U.S. officials said the temporary halt is expected only to last a few days.
The move comes after Europe’s drug regulator said it had found a possible link between AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine and very rare blood clots in some adults who had received the shot. ....
