In the early ’90s, a guide was published that would help millions of Americans better understand a new technology that was roosting on their desks: personal computers.
That guide was “How Computers Work,” and it was written by San Antonian Ron White.
White, a journalist who worked at the San Antonio Express-News and the San Antonio Light, died Jan. 5 in a downtown hospital. He was 76 and had been suffering complications from heart disease. ....

ISLAMABAD: The government has projected that the circular debt will mount up to Rs2,805 billion till end June 2021, putting the bleeding power sector into a severe cash constraint situation, The News has learnt.
The Ministry of Power made the projections on the basis of status quo approach as the government had not taken any action to rectify the situation.
Top official sources said that the government is all set to increase the power tariff by hiking Rs1.90 per unit to revive the stalled IMF program under the $6 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF). The government had agreed in principle to hike electricity tariff by Rs3.30 per unit in phases and in the first phase, it is going to announce power tariff to the tune of Rs1.90 per unit within the next few days. ....

Stocks stayed in top gear on Tuesday in record trade, driven mostly by autos, amid hopes Pakistan’s reentering the IMF programme will pave wave for fresh foreign investment, dealers said.
KSE-100 shares index gained 0.69 percent or 316.62 points to close at 45,922.04 points at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). Volumes increased to 825.893 million shares, from 588.039 million shares on Tuesday. KSE-30 rose 0.61 percent or 116.08 points to end at 19,212.13 points level.
Topline Securities in a note said investor interest was witnessed in the auto sector after PAMA announced monthly sales numbers for the month of December. ....
