KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has given his assurance that the government will continue to intensify efforts to find the balance between the survival and economic aspects of the country which has yet to be declared free from the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Prime Minister said the government was concerned and always listened to the views and complaints from those affected since the pandemic hit the country more than one year ago.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The closing date for new registrations or updates for the Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) has been extended from Feb 15 to Feb 25, says Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
He said this was to ensure that only those eligible would receive the BPR as well as taking into account the current movement control order (MCO) implemented in most parts of the country.
Those who need to make new applications are those who have never received the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) 2020 or the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) B40 and whose household incomes are RM5,000 and below per month.

Unemployment among KL's urban poor has doubled, says Unicef report


PETALING JAYA: Unemployment among low-income urban families in Kuala Lumpur has doubled during the conditional movement control order in December last year, says the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).
Its Families on the Edge report, which is based on the third round of data collection conducted by the Families on the Edge project in December, involved 500 families with children living in Kuala Lumpur's low-cost flats.
According to the report, it found that unemployment among heads of households had doubled to 15% in three months, with one-in-three adults found to be unemployed.
It added that income levels among households headed by women and persons with disabilities (PWD) were now 24% and 36% lower respectively than at the end of 2019.

TM said the enforcement of MCO 2.0 has made most Malaysians rely heavily on Internet connectivity for online communication to stay connected and productive while working and learning at home, which naturally led to an inevitable surge of data consumption.

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 30: The COVID-19 screening programme will be expanded nationwide effective Feb 2, the Human Resources Ministry said.
Its minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said the expansion was following the re-implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on Jan 13 and the announcement of Malaysian Economic and Rakyat’s Protection Assistance Package (PERMAI) on Jan 18.
The screening programme is implemented by the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) with the cooperation of private clinics throughout the country which provide the RTK Antigen test approved by the Ministry of Health (MoH).
