The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams travel to Durant Tuesday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Wildcats. The Mid-Prairie girls come in with an overall record of 6-6 on the year after a 55-37 win at Anamosa Saturday where they were led by Maddie Nonnenmann’s 23 points and 13 from Myah Lugar. On the season, the Golden Hawks are led by Nonnenmann at 12 points and seven rebounds per game. Amara Jones averages four assists per contest and Lugar three steals per outing. Durant is 3-10 overall. They fell to Cascade Saturday 63-28 despite Hallie Collier’s nine points. On the year, the Wildcats are led by Ally Happ at 15 points per game. She also leads the team with six rebounds and three steals per game. Nicole Brown has a team best two assists per game. These two teams met to open the season with the Hawks winning 40-36. ....
Less than 24 hours after a road trip to West Branch Friday, the Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams were back at it Saturday, traveling to Anamosa. The Golden Hawk girls snapped a two game losing streak with a 55-37 victory over the Blue Raiders. It was Anamosa that came out of the gates firing, holding a 17-8 lead after one quarter. Mid-Prairie chipped away the rest of the half to pull within 22-19 at the break. After halftime adjustments, the Hawks went on a 19-5 run that lasted the entire third quarter to take a lead of 38-27 they would not give up the rest of the night, finishing the game by outscoring Anamosa 17-10 in the fourth. Maddie Nonnenmann led Mid-Prairie with 23 points, Myah Lugar added 13. With the win, the Golden Hawks are now 6-6. ....
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are ready for action again Saturday when they hit the road for Anamosa. The Mid-Prairie boys come into the day with an overall record of 5-2, they are 5-1 in the River Valley Conference after suffering their first league setback of the year Friday at West Branch to the No. 13 ranked Bears 44-41. In that game, Aidan Rath led the Hawks with 16 points. Carter Harmsen added 13. For the season, Harmsen is the leader at 25 points and eight rebounds per game. Jack Pennington leads the Golden Hawks at six assists and three steals per game. ....

The Golden Hawk girls come into the game at 5-5 on the year, 5-4 in the River Valley Conference, after a 47-45 loss to the Wilton Beavers in Wellman on Tuesday. Phelan Hostetler led Mid-Prairie in the loss with 15 points. For the season, Mid-Prairie’s scoring leader is Maddie Nonnenmann at 12 points per game. She also has a team best seven boards per contest. Amara Jones leads the team with four assists per game and Myah Lugar has three steals per outing. ....
By Jeff Yoder It was a rough Monday night for Myah Lugar and the Mid-Prairie offense. But by Tuesday, those struggles were forgotten. The Golden Hawks opened up an early double-digit lead and held off a late Rebel run for a 50-34 victory, taking a winning record into the winter break. After scoring just two points at West Liberty on Monday, Lugar had 11 during Mid-Prairie’s 16-4 run to open the game. “I think just being strong with the ball was a big factor,” Lugar said, “and also just working the ball inside and outside because that opened it up for both parts of the offense.” ....
