After Stumble, Army to Restart Design Competition for Bradley Replacement
The Bradley Fighting Vehicle is a tracked armored weapons system named for Gen. Omar Bradley, the last five-star general in the Army. It is designed to transport infantry and scout soldiers. In November 2020, nearly 300 troops from the 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, perfected their gunnery skills at the Doña Ana Training Complex in New Mexico –- a sprawling training area located about 30 miles north of Fort Bliss, Texas. During a press conference Friday, 115th Fighter Wing commander Col. Bart Van Roo said he has suspended flight operations at the wing indefinitely amid the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
It is grounded based on what we determine to be a safe time for us to fly again, Van Roo said.
Determining the causes of the crash and other contributing factors could take months, Van Roo said, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
Jones F-16 crashed around 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Hiawatha National Forest, roughly 300 miles northeast of the base, during a routine night training mission. The wing had planned to conduct night drills Monday through Thursday, according to unit announcements. ....

President-elect Joe Biden s choice of an Obama administration insider with no military or health care background to head the Department of Veterans Affairs has been met with a mix of qualified support, non-commitment, and stunned disappointment by veterans groups.
The two largest veterans service organizations, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, reserved judgment on Denis McDonough, former White House chief of staff, to head the VA.
