GODFREY The RiverBend Growth Association’s Young Adults Committee recently held its year-end ceremony virtually.
The committee’s students, mentors and nine local member non-profit organizations were recognized for all their hard work during the 2020-2021 school year. This year the committee held a raffle that raised $10,000.
The committee has two seniors and two juniors from each of the five participating high schools: Alton High School, Civic Memorial High School, East Alton-Wood River High School, Marquette Catholic High School and Roxana High School.
This year the committee heard presentations virtually from nine RBGA member organizations: Alton Parks & Recreation, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Call for Help, Community Hope Center, Jacoby Arts Center, Kreative Kids, Madison County Child Advocacy Center, and Riverbend Family Ministries. ....

MARYVILLE The Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce on March 4 delivered 1,100 “Healthcare Kindness Day” bags to Anderson Hospital.
“Our healthcare workers were working hard every single day but, in March of 2020, they were asked to not only work harder but put themselves at risk of COVID,” said Chamber Executive Director Dawn Mushill. “Every one of them has had a very trying 10 months and they are still dealing with so much. So we created a holiday for them.”
Mushill said the idea came from a Chamber board meeting. The bags have been in progress for a couple of months. Each bag contained gift certificates, treats, a kindness jar (with over a dozen kindness sayings that they can take “as needed”), a handwritten thank you note, a scratch off ticket for a free item at a local restaurant and a flyer telling the story of Healthcare Kindness Day. ....

Growth Association Board Names New Leaders

The Riverbend Growth Association has announced new leadership for its board of directors along with new board members for 2021. Local COUNTRY Financial representative Jeff Lauritzen has been selected the new Chairman, while 1
st MidAmerica Credit Union President Alan Meyer was named Chair-elect.
Lauritzen has been with COUNTRY Financial since 2013 and before that worked in the banking industry. In addition to the Growth Association, he has also volunteered on boards serving Asbury Village, the East End Improvement Association, the United Way, and St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Meyer has also been involved with the RGBA and the United Way, as well as the American Cancer Society and the Illinois Credit Union League. The Board also selected four new members to serve three-year terms: Jake Bodi, Superintendent of Business Administration & Customer Service for Ameren Illinois; James Rogalsky, Co-Owner of Old ....
