Avery grew up in Jasper, Texas, and attended Sam Houston State University and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. In 1993 she married Charles âChuck Rhodes Jr., and they most recently lived in Nacogdoches, Texas where she passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones. Avery treasured her inner circle of family and friends who prayed by her side throughout her two-year battle with cancer. Her devoted husband and daughter, Madison, were Averyâs two most coveted treasures on earth. ....

JAMES CITY COUNTY Claudia Birkholz, 74, went to be with her Savior Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020. She was a 1966 graduate of New Kent High School and retired from Williamsburg/James City County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office after 29 years of dedicated service. Claudia shared her love of others through her beautiful flowers that she so lovingly grew and her fabulous lemon glazed pecan pound cake, which was everyone’s favorite. Her smile, generous spirit and love of others were always abundant. She was very fond of her dogs, fried chicken legs and Chik-fil-A. Claudia is survived by her husband of 36 years, Carl; brother, Allen “Big Al” Hazelwood; and sister, Susan Leonituk. ....
