Apr 14, 2021 The Minot Symphony Orchestra will present its 95th season finale live on Saturday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Minot State University’s Ann Nicole Nelson Hall in Old Main. Tickets for the performance must be purchased in advance and are available at www.minotsymphony.com. Masks will be required for musicians and for people in attendance. The performance will also be livestreamed. A pre-concert talk providing an overview of the works being performed will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, April 20, at 4:30 p.m. The talk will be shared to the Minot Symphony Orchestra Facebook and YouTube pages. Ticketholders will receive an email with the Zoom link to join in the conversation. The pre-concert talk will be hosted by Tim Baumann, oboist and co-camp director of the International Music Camp. ....

eogden@minotdailynews.com The Minot Chamber Chorale is making plans to present “We Will Shine,” a short five-movement virtual choir cantata featuring guest artist Edward Graves, a tenor based in Detroit, Michigan. The performance, scheduled for May 2 at 3 p.m., will also feature the Minot State University Choirs, Western Plains Children’s Choir, members of the Minot Symphony Orchestra along with other Minot premiere vocal ensembles. Emerson Eads, director of choral activities at Minot State University, artistic director of the Minot Chamber Chorale and director of the Western Plains Youth Ensemble, and his brother, published poet Eran Eads of Alexandria, Va., have fashioned a short cantata inspired by the words of President John F. Kennedy: “We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light a candle that can guide us through the darkness to a safe and sure future.” ....

Feb 24, 2021 Submitted Photo The SubZero Winds, a woodwind quintet of Minot Symphony Orchestra musicians, will be featured during the world premiere of âFive Brief Maneuvers for Wind Quintetâ by Matthew Benbenek, an orchestra member. The Minot Symphony Orchestra will present “A Little Night Musik” featuring music by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and a world premier by one of its own musicians Matthew Benbenek. The orchestra will welcome a limited socially distanced live audience to attend the performance at Minot State University’s Ann Nicole Nelson Hall on Saturday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will also be available via livestream. Tickets for the performance must be purchased in advance and are available at www.minotsymphony.com. Following the MSU Beavers Restart guidelines, musicians and patrons will be required to wear a mask at all times. ....
