Stripe has once again participated in a funding round for Step, a US mobile banking start-up aimed at teenagers, which is also backed by a number of well-known stars. Step has secured $100 million in funding in Series C round as it announced it has surpassed 1.5 million users less than six months after launching. Of these users, some 88 per cent said Step is their first bank account. The start-up is aimed solely at the ‘pre-banked’ generation and aims to teach them financial literacy through its mobile app.

University of Limerick graduate composer to have song performed at Joe Biden inauguration Reporter: ); Leading Irish composer, Patrick Cassidy, a former attendee at the University of Limerick, will have his song, Proclamation played at the inauguration of Joe Biden in Washington DC today. Violinist Patricia Treacy, from Blackrock, Co Louth was invited to perform at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and chose to play ‘Proclamation’, which Patrick originally composed for the 1916 Centenary. Cassidy graduated from the University of Limerick with a BSC in Applied Maths in 1985 before moving to Los Angelus, where he resides today. The talented composer was the recipient of Alumni Award in 2007 for his Outstanding Contribution to Culture/Arts.
The main piece she will be performing is The Proclamation composed by Patrick Cassidy. Patricia will be playing a 315-year-old Stradivarius violin, from Joe Bein and Company in Chicago, which is estimated to be worth $4m (€3.3m).
