New Delhi:Â A Muslim man was attacked by a group in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district on Sunday (May 23). The group was led by a man calling himself a
gau rakshak (cow protector), NDTV reported.
While the police have filed a case against the violent group based on a complaint from the victim’s relative, the TV channel reported that another FIR â which they police have filed of their own volition â names the victim himself as the accused. ....

ISLAMABAD: Several prominent American Muslim organisations boycotted the annual White House Eid celebration Sunday, part of the backlash the Biden administration faces over its handling of the ongoing violence in Gaza and Israel.
For weeks, President Joe Biden has refused to echo the international community’s call for a ceasefire in Gaza where hundreds of people, mostly Palestinians, have died and has shied away from openly opposing Israel’s planned evictions of Palestinian families from a neighbourhood in east Jerusalem. According to international media reports, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated Monday the US would not join calls for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas militant group. Instead, the Biden administration approved a $735 million weapons sale to Israel and its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, furthering outrage among Muslim groups and lawmakers. ....

Varanasi: Showing solidarity with Palestine cost dearly to a Muslim cleric in Azamgarh district. He had allegedly appealed to his community to put the flag of Palestine on houses and vehicles after Friday namaz.
The police on Thursday arrested the cleric, Maulana Yasir Akhtar, after booking him under section 505 (2) (statements conducing to public mischief) of IPC.
Azamgarh SP Sudhir Kumar Singh said, “It came to our notice that Yasir, a resident of North Churihar kasba in Saraimir area, made an appeal on his Facebook page Azamgarh Express displaying the Palestinian flag and asking the community members to the such flags atop their houses and vehicles after Friday namaz.” ....
